History of Brass Musical Instruments

The natural scale was the foundation of these sounds and people began to use them in musical art.
With the developing of metal working process and the production instruments of brass it became possible to create tubes of different dimensions and finishing. Also people invented the name of natural instruments. It happened due to the development of brass instruments and the betterment of different natural scales producing. They were musical instruments without valve mechanism and could produce only natural scale. Brotherhoods of trumpeters appeared at those times. There were 2 types of them: marching pipers and chamber trumpeters that performed difficult parts in hard high register.
At the beginning of the XIX century was created valve mechanism. It definitely changed the technique of performance and increased the possibility of brass instruments. An extra crown was included in the basic tube, it increased the dimension of a musical instrument and lowered its pitch.
In symphony orchestras brass instruments are in the main parts and in wind ensembles they are the fundamental ones. Today you may find a lot of solo literature for natural and valve instruments.
